As a Remote Backend Engineer, you are able to work in a full-remote setup currently residing in Portugal and you'll be working on a mixed tech stack based on a microservices architecture, entirely on Amazon Web Services, with Golang as the language of choice for our Microservices and PHP for our Monolith. You'll work with a creative, critical, and well-organized team from the comfort of your house but as close as we have ever been!
You will enable teams to build experiences in one of the fastest and key marketplaces: Motors. The European Motors Team is developing the Vertical Motors Platforms for many valuable markets figuring many millions in revenue. Among our brands you can find Otomoto.pl in Poland, Autovit.ro in Romania, and in Portugal, Standvirtual. com. You will play a key role in enabling our organization to scale efficiently.
What you will be doing: - Contribute to best practices and guidelines for software development. - Building scalable platforms used by people around the globe while developing and maintaining products with billions of page views per month. - Part of the development process end-to-end, participating in product design discussions, writing and reviewing code, and assuring quality is a first-class citizen. - Contributing to our engineering community through our communities of interest or even driving/participating in Design documents or RFCs. - Develop elegant backend solutions focusing on performance, reliability, security, quality, and automation. - Work closely with other teams from the early stages of design all the way through identifying and resolving production issues. - Support and learn from other engineers and team members to the best of your ability
Who we're looking for: - Good coding skills and Computer Science fundamentals. On average you will be expected to develop new ideas and review others’ work. - Crafty in software development practices (preferably using PHP and Golang). - Experience with Git version control. - Critical mindset, pro-activity and economic thinking. You will influence your team's architecture and best practices. - Nice to have an understanding of domain-driven design principles and patterns which can help us bring autonomy and efficiency to a higher level. - Some degree of experience with CI/CD, RESTful APIs, AWS, and relational and non-relational databases. - Able to articulate your speech and communicate in a clear and concise way. - Good technical communication skills. As a mid Engineer, junior Software Engineers will look up to you and you should lead them by example. - Fluency in English, written and spoken - You are currently residing in Portugal. - While we are a technology company we hire humans and not robots.
